Description of Dedicated Servers
When we speak of hosting servers, there are 3 basic types - shared hosting web servers, VPS (virtual servers) and dedicated servers. Shared hosting web servers host many clients and hence the resources per user account are restricted, VPS plans give you more server configuration freedom, but also influence other VPS servers on the hardware node if utilized rashly, and dedicated servers offer you the autonomy to perform everything you please without meddling with anyone else.
Why would you need a dedicated server?
4 GB DDR3 RAM
2x240 GB SSD Hard Drives
16 GB DDR4 RAM
2x240 GB SSD Hard Drives
Dedicated servers are generally much more expensive than shared servers or VPS servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The answer is quite simple. If your company has a large-scale website, or just has very explicit server setup requirements, the most reasonable option is a dedicated server. For someone who is prepared to invest in safety and reliability, the bigger price is of no importance. You are given complete server root access and can use 100% of the dedicated hosting web server's resources without anyone else availing of these resources and meddling with your online portals.
Hardware configurations
Most hosting vendors, including us at Besafe1st Hosting, provide several hardware configurations you can select from in accordance with your needs. The hardware configurations include different kinds of microprocessors, a different number of cores, different RAM and disk drive sizes and different monthly bandwidth quotas. You can choose a hosting CP, which is a convenient software tool if you would like to utilize the hosting server for website hosting purposes only and prefer not to resort to a Secure Shell terminal for all the changes you will be making. We offer three kinds of Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The web hosting CP of your preference
If you are a self-assured Linux OS user (our dedicated hosting web servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could administer your dedicated server via a Secure Shell console only. That, however, could be awkward, particularly if you want to give complete root access to somebody else who has less technical expertise than yourself. That is why having web hosting CP software pre-activated is a brilliant idea. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel GUI that we provide does not offer full server root access and is mostly suitable for somebody who owns lots of web pages that consume lots of resources, but wishes to manage the sites, databases and mails using an intuitive hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel Control Panels, on the other hand, give you root access and offer three access levels - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell web hosting packages instead of utilizing the dedicated web hosting server just for yourself, you should pick one of these two.
Server monitoring and backup services
Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated server and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your dedicated hosting web server, such as an unresponsive Apache or an outage, it is good to have some sort of monitoring platform enabled. Here at Besafe1st Hosting the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated server too. Backups are also a bonus option - the web hosting company offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would permit you to store the very same data on two hard disks as a precaution in case of a server hard disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given full server root access erases something by accident.
